In theory, this
round of training points toward the Coburg Half. I know that your current aim
might be different, but we’re sticking with the schedule – with a one-hour run
this Sunday. The purpose here is to take the emphasis off of miles and pace, to
relax while tapering for the race, and to have everyone finish close together.
The route (with
an eight o’clock start from the Eugene Running Company): Oakway and Coburg
Roads to Ferry Street Bridge and don’t cross. Turn left onto bike path, then
pick up Pre’s Trail at the Alton Baker parking lot. Follow the water, past Autzen
Stadium and toward I-5. Turn AROUND after 30 minutes and come back the same
way.
Bring a drink
for delivery at the stadium, in both directions. Weather forecast: sunny with
starting temperature in 50s, moving quickly toward afternoon high of 85.
Note too that
our midweek morning runs begin next week. They’ll start at six o’clock and last
no more than an hour (with basic courses of about 5.5 miles). We’ll gather for
the first of those at the Mill Race path in Springfield on Wednesday, July 12th. If
you want to come and haven’t told me so, ask to join the email list.
