February 24th Results (mixed distances)

When it’s raining, we keep on training. At least the scheduled run proceeds for anyone who gets there.

Bravo to Bill, Jenna and Amy for tackling a rugged coastal route on Saturday – for marathon distance. Neal, Kathie, Nobuko and Russell all travel to the Napa Valley to enjoy that old event’s new half-marathon this weekend.

Thanks to Lindsey for hosting us at the store today. And to Laurel and Trey for helping on the course.

February 17th Results (multi distances)

At 21 runners today, our numbers reached a new high for the new year. They’ll keep going up from here, with a big surge coming in March when training officially begins for the Eugene Half-Marathon.

In my unintended absence, others stepped up on short notice and admirably to support you: Lindsey with extra service at the store, Rhonda's Dave helping on the course, and Rhonda herself sending me the results below.

February 10th Results (6 & 8 miles, etc.)

This was a first. We’ve canceled two runs over the years (once for snow, the other for smoke), but not until today had we delayed one. A troubling forecast led to the afternoon start (though some from the team chose to check actual conditions and ran at the usual time). Today we could add to the usual rhyme, making it "Sunday Runday Oneday."

It was also a rare day when the suggested distance for the Florence Half exceeded that for the Eugene Marathon. A reminder that the alternating short runs are not throwaways. They serve one of two purposed: either as recovery from the past week’s long one (at similar pace but half the distance) or as speed training (at faster pace than a week before).

Thanks to Lindsey and Austin for greeting us at the store. It’s our first time back with her this year.
