Training for Summer/Fall 2019


Training for a long race goes better if you run with a group that shares your goal and a coach who has helped hundreds of runners reach it previously. You set the goal, and I provide the group support and coaching advice for carrying out a proven training plan.

Our next round of training points toward two half-marathons: Cottage Grove Half on September 14th (note the move from previous March date) and EWEB Half on November 24th.

You can train for other races in this time frame. But you must make the necessary adjustments in distances, and we can’t give full support for those runs.

The Eugene Running Company has sponsored and hosted our training team since its launch in 2005. More than 500 runners have joined us, and their finish rate is greater than 99 percent.

Most runs start at 8:00, with previews of the route emailed to registered runners each week. Weekly results are posted on our blog, http://joesteamrunners.blogspot.com.

We divide the year’s training into two rounds (this new one is for summer-fall) and each round into a pair of two-month segments (mid-July to mid-September and late-September to late-November). If you join for both of the current segments, the fee is $75. If you choose one segment or the other, the cost is $50. Fees are payable at the store when your training begins.

We welcome runners of all ages, abilities and experience levels. However, we strongly recommend that half-marathoners have run at least four miles before this training begins. To reserve a spot on Joe’s Team, contact at: joesrunteam@gmail.com.

7/28 - 6 miles

9/8 - 6 miles

SECOND SEGMENT (September-November)

9/22 - optional run
9/29 - 5 miles to start EWEB Half training

10/13 - 7 miles
